labsal
synopsis: what is paradise? eva and her boyfriend adam have very different answers to this question. his "eden" is a dark, stylish club that thrives on homogeneous exclusivity. only those who meet adam's standards are allowed in. but for eva, these rigid boundaries feel too confining. she’s also curious about what lies at the center of "eden"—a massive water basin.
after an encounter with the mysterious performance artist nahum, eva dives into the water despite adam’s prohibition, and finds herself in an entirely different "eden." there, she meets lilith, who helps her break free from her inner constraints and shame, and quite literally reach for the "fruit of knowledge."
director Sarang Myeong reimagines the biblical tale in a visually powerful and unconventional adaptation that skillfully plays with contrasts and extremes.
"labsal" was created as part of a collaboration between 3sat and the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf on the theme of “pride and prejudice in dramatic world literature.”
